My name is Blair Scott and I am the National Affiliate Outreach Director (NAOD) for American Atheists. I am also the Alabama State Director for American Atheists. I have been an Atheist since the 6th grade (1982) and have been involved in activism since 1998 when I got out of the United States Navy. I live in Huntsville, Alabama with my wife and twin 14-year-old daughters, who are also Atheists.

It is my pleasure and honor to work in the capacity of NAOD and act as the Affiliate liaison with American Atheists. I look forward to working with Affiliates and other local and national groups in achieving our common goals: maintaining the Establishment Clause, bringing about true Freedom of Religion (meaning freedom from religion), and fighting for the civil rights of Atheists.

I am here for your group: to answer questions, address concerns, and listen to comments and suggestions. I am here to keep groups informed about what American Atheists is doing. I am here to help groups find ways to work with and help American Atheists ways for American Atheists to work with and help local groups in achieving our common goals.

As the NAOD it is my job to keep Affiliates up-to-date on events, activism, and other activities that help achieve those common goals. I also help Affiliates when they need it, coordinate with them, and act as a liaison with American Atheists. This includes helping with questions about group management, coordination, Affiliate benefits, and more.

If your local or national group is already an affiliate, allow me to congratulate you on taking the first step! I am looking forward to working with you and for you. Please use the resources I have provided on this page and the resources on the American Atheists Web Page to help you communicate with American Atheists and other affiliates, ask questions, and gather resources.

Some of the specific jobs that I do for American Atheists Affiliates:

* Forward all Action Alerts, AA News, Press Releases, and other relevant information from American Atheists to the individual Affiliates.

* Maintain contact with the Affiliates and act as liaison between the Affiliates and American Atheists.

* Nominate one Affiliate each year to be named as “Affiliate of the Year” at the Annual American Atheists Convention.

* Conduct Affiliate meetings at the Annual American Atheists Convention to discuss affiliate-related issues.

* Assist Affiliates with any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions they have regarding any aspect of American Atheists.

* Assist Affiliates with questions about group management and offer advice where I can.

* Work with Affiliates in the same geographic area to coordinate with each other and create a united front for state legislation and Establishment Clause violations in their states.

* Work with Affiliates when Establishment Clause and Civil Rights issues arise in their area to help resolve the situation.

* Provide the Affiliates Forum so Affiliate leaders can exchange information and ideas as well as ask questions.
